Reasons and Solving Measures for Chain Deviation in Scraper Conveyor I

Reasons and Solving Measures for Chain Deviation in Scraper Conveyor I

1. Influence of chain deviation

Scraper chain deviation will increase the gap between blade and base groove to reduce average speed of materials. Therefore, it is so hard to increase internal and external friction that the conveying efficiency will be reduced. If the gap is too small, it will increase the transport resistance, accelerate wear of blade and machine groove, reduce equipment lifespan.

2. Reasons for chain deviation

2.1 Poor installation quality leads to scraper chain deviation

1) The straightness of whole machine is out of tolerance.

2) Head and tail wheel are misalignment.

3) Scraper chain is out of shape which will lead to chain deviation.

4) Due to different tension adjusting, tail shaft will be deflection which can cause chain deviation.

Above mentioned points can cause chain deviation, then it will lead to unstable operation of the whole machine.

2.2 Material impact causes scraper chain deviation

Due to unstable discharging points, both sides of scraper conveyor have unbalanced stress, in this condition, it is easy to lead to chain deviation.

2.3 Uncertain reasons cause scraper chain deviation

Because of the complicated stress state, even if there is good installation quality, it will be easy to arise scraper chain deviation due to the greater frictional resistance.

Selection Principles for Scraper chain

Selection Principles for Scraper chain

Select the type of chain

Chain should be carried out a reasonable selection according to the maximum working load as well as meet the requirements of material properties.

1. It’s better not to select roller chain if conveying powder materials. In general, it’s better to adopt forging chains.

2. Please try to reduce its weight on condition of meeting the chain strength’s needs.

3. Different forms of arrangement have different chain selection. Usually, with regard to MS type, MC type and MG type, users have free to select any type of chain.

Chain pitch selection

Chain pitch should be chosen to minimize the maximum power load of chain withstand and shake amplitude as principle, because if chain jitter is too large, it will damage normal delivery state. If the chain with larger withstand dynamic loads will increase the weight of chain or reduce its service life.

Blade pitch selection

Blade spacing can be determined based on groove width, but it must adapt to the chain pitch. Generally, blade spacing is equal to chain pitch. If blade pitch is too large, it will increase energy consumption; if blade pitch is too small, it will increase the weight of traction and energy consumption.

Practices to Prolong Lifespan of Buried Scraper Conveyor

Practices to Prolong Lifespan of Buried Scraper Conveyor

1. Operators should carry out no-load commissioning after having started machine. It would be better to feed materials uniformly when the device operates normally.

2. If there is no exceptional circumstance, users cannot turn off the power source to stop machine with load.

3. If there are several scraper conveyors to combine a production line, please start machine from the last one, and then start up them one by one.

4. Operators should check all components regularly, in particular scraper chain and drive units.

5. During operation, please pay attention to if there are iron pieces, large pieces and other sundries mixing into conveyors, so as not to damage equipment or cause other accidents.

6. Keep all bearings and drive section a good lubrication, but it should be noted that scraper chain, support rails and head pulley, tail pulley and other parts must not smear grease.

7. In general, buried scraper conveyor should be a small maintained half a year, overhauled three years. Buried scraper conveyor overhaul should dismantle all parts to be cleaned or replace worn parts. Motor and reducer should be maintained according to the technical requirements of each product.
